Why fat grafting?
Volume is one of the main differences between the youthful looking face and the face that is showing signs of aging. Unfortunately, as we begin to age, we inevitably lose volume, particularly in the face.
Volume loss is especially pronounced around the eyes, cheeks, and jawline. Fat grafting can play a significant role in creating a more balanced and comprehensive rejuvenation of the face, in turn restoring that once youthful glow.
Dr. Repta has performed countless fat grafting procedures on patients with nothing less than remarkable results. In fact he is truly an artist when it comes to facial aesthetics and symmetry. Having delivered some of the finest fat grafting Scottsdale has to offer, Dr. Repta is your doctor of choice for facial rejuvenation.View Fat Grafting Results
Fat grafting procedure
By removing unwanted fat from a patient’s own body, usually one’s abdomen or thighs, Dr. Repta will then inject the fat into specific areas of the face that need volume replenishment.
Using a “blunt cannula” (a 1 millimeter hollow tube) tiny droplets of fat are injected throughout areas of facial hollowness. By using this micro-droplet technique, grafted fat has a much higher blood supply contact and the results are more natural looking.
Additionally, volume restoration of the face tends to add more light to the face, which in turn can cause the skin look more radiant. Adding fat back to the face can even help with skin texture and tone through what is thought to be a stem-cell response that the skin undergoes as a result of transplanted fat. This phenomenon is not conclusive but can be evident after about one year from the time of the procedure.
Fat grafting also appeals to many patients, as it is minimally invasive and does not require any significant incisions. For this reason, it has become one of the most popular anti-aging procedures available today, as a great alternative to facelift surgery.
Candidates for facial fat transfer
If you are experiencing any of the following conditions you may be a good candidate for fat grafting:
- Loss of facial volume
- Laugh lines
- Crow's feet
- Hollows under eyes
- Sunken cheeks
- Scarring or facial indentations
Recovery & Results
Once the procedure is complete, patients may experience some bruising and swelling and slight discomfort, primarily at the injection site. The swelling and bruising tends to subside within the first week allowing the beginning of the rejuvenated results of fat grafting to be seen.
It is recommended that patients rest for the first 24 hours after fat grafting, keeping rigorous activity to a minimum while still remaining mobile. Keeping the head elevated can help with minimizing bruising and swelling as well. Most patients are able to return back to work after the first week. Typically, the results of fat grafting last considerably longer than dermal fillers. In most patients, the results are permanent, making this the optimum choice for many.
